Moving on to 2011

I'm only 17 days late with this post but that's ok, better late than never, eh?

So I didn't make any resolutions this year. Why? Well, I never can seem to quite live up to the hype. Last year was quite the disappointment for me in many ways, so I thought, this year, I'm just going to take it a day at a time. And 17 days later, well...I'm still doing that...so...score! :)

Right now, I'm doing a 6 Week Exercise Challenge with my girls Jamie and Teresa. So that is giving me the oomph to at least get my butt off the couch. The first two weeks of it is 30 minutes a day, for 5 days a week. Then the second two weeks, is 45 minutes/5 days. And then an hour/5 days. We're easing into it, thankfully. Last week was the first one and I barely skimmed in all my time (AF decided to start...wheeeeeeeee), but I DID get my time in. Whew!

And looking ahead to this year, I will be starting the search for a child to adopt again. The brief time we had with the little girl, really showed me how much D and I want this.

We won't be escaping surgery this year though. D will be going in soon to get tubes put back in his ears. His other ones fell out over the summer and he's already had 2 ear infections since. So back in they go. At the ENT today to schedule it, he had fluid behind both ear drums. Good times...poor guy.

As for everything else, well, I'm making no commitments. But it just might turn out to be one heck of a year.

A summary of 2010

Wow, it's still hard to believe that 2010 has come and gone. So much happened in my life, I grew so much in many ways, but in some ways I took a few big steps backward. And 2010 did not end on a great note for me.

How do you summarize a whole year? I don't even know that I REMEMBER most of the year...lol Well, I will say, the biggest part for me, was The 3 Day. Yes, I know, I ended up not actually walking in it, but fundraising for it was a big part of my 2010. I still raised my $2300, plus a little extra. I LOVED doing all the fundraisers and events that we did. No, it wasn't very enjoyable to ask people for money, but creating fun events that were of benefit to everyone was awesome. I still wish we would have organized a karaoke night, just couldn't get it together!

I also started working on adopting again in 2010. I met a fantastic little girl, but it just didn't work out. So we are still working on this one. And my sweet boy turned 6. I'm still not believing it.

There was some pain this year, mainly relating to my two heel spurs. I originally went in thinking I had plantar fasciitis, and I did in fact have it, but also the spurs. I STILL can not walk barefoot anywhere without lots of pain, and have to keep flipflops or some kind of shoes on at home.

And for a month, I took on the challenge of the Paleo diet. Meat, fruits, veggies, nuts, eggs, and oil were the major players in my diet, and I abstained from bread, pasta, rice, white potatoes for a full 30 days, something I had never done before. I felt amazing and am sad that I've backtracked a lot since then.

Overall, 2010 was a fairly difficult year for me, but I'm moving on from it. I'm hoping 2011 will show God's grace in my life and that we will prosper and grow in His spirit.

Welcome!

Ok this may seem like an odd post considering there are tons of other posts on this blog...HOWEVER, this is to announce a new blog name. Welcome to Mama with a Keyboard. I wanted something that would incorporate my diet blog, my daily bdizzle blog, and so I imported both of those over here. So now you get all the new stuff, along with ALL the old stuff. The majority of the posts are from Daily Bdizzle, but there is a good month or so that was from my Paleo blog.

The focus of this new blog is really to share my life with others. I want to ramble! I'm not focusing on weight loss on here, and honestly I got burnt out on that. Esp when I would mess up and then have to share it and then get slammed for it. So while I might mention minor things, it's not all about that anymore. I don't know how often I will post, but the goal is at least once a week. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

The last month or so since I posted on my Paleo blog, has been pretty rough. I ended up backing out of a possible adoption, when we had already met this little girl and she'd spent a weekend with us. I won't go into details, but I just didn't see her and D being a good fit as siblings.

I also let diet AND exercise go completely. There just was no energy whatsoever in dealing with the adoption stuff, to even think about anything except getting through work and being "on" for D. But it's a new year, a new start, and while I haven't completely buckled down, I'm beginning to exercise again, and slowly getting things back in focus.

Check back soon, my next post will be a look back at 2010, and how I will be moving forward in 2011. Stay tuned!

OY! Tuesday through Friday

Things were a little crazy this week and I was a little preoccupied, so it's been a few days.

But I'm here and I must say I did pretty good this week. The new veggie of the week was: radishes. I munched on a handful of em a few days this week and they weren't half bad!

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday...uggh let's hope I can remember it all.

I had a banana every morning with breakfast. Tuesday was just the banana. Then leftovers from the weekend for lunch, BBQ sausage and a few radishes dipped in ranch. Dinner was leftover turkey and broccoli. Wednesday breakfast was a little leftover turkey with a banana. Lunch was with friends at Cafe Brazil. I had an omelette with salsa and fruit. No real dinner, though I did munch on a few veggies in the evening. Thursday was just the banana for breakfast. Lunch was tuna salad, radishes with ranch and some apple slices. Dinner was a sweet potato with some butter, and then a little goop that I mixed up with the leftover turkey and some hominy. Kind of a soup. It was warm and filling. Friday breakfast was some bacon with the banana. Lunch was tuna salad again with some tomatoes. Dinner was italian chicken with some cauliflower and broccoli with butter.

So overall it was a successful week!

Thanksgiving weekend and Monday

Did I make ya think I was gonna stop posting??? Nah, not any time soon! I did take a hiatus from posting over the long 4 day weekend since we were so busy, but I'm right back on the grind. I did let it slip a little bit, and had a few things on the No-no list. It wasn't AWFUL, but I'm back buckling down. On Thanksgiving, I had literally two bites of homemade mac n cheese, and one bite of stuffing. But did good with everything else. Friday, I had some broc rice casserole, which was a really bad idea as I suffered all evening from that!!! Saturday was still ok (I did have a few chips at Chilis, but made sure my meal was good.), up until the Mom's Night In that I hosted. I ended up having a couple of little appetizers that were bread, and a cookie. Blech. And Sunday I did ok for the most part. I had a couple of Dibs (the icecream/chocolate things) and another cookie. But the cookies are gone now out of my house, so no more temptation there!!

Today was back to the daily grind of work. I had some leftover lil smokies sausages and apple slices for breakfast. Lunch was a small piece of cheese and some almonds. I wasn't super hungry. Dinner to be decided later...lol Will likely be pork chops and a sweet potato, and broccoli, but we'll see. I've been slacking the last week on trying a new veggie so I might go by the store and figure out something new.

Day 30

I made it 30 days with no grains!!! Go me!! And now on to the next 30 days...lol

Today was an off day again as we got off work early and I had D with me all day. So, for breakfast, I had a small piece of cheese and some beef jerky, plus a few grapes. I also got a sweet tea, but diluted it by half with unsweetened tea. Lunch was a salad from McDs (I dropped D off there with a friend for a bit to play). In the afternoon, I had half a banana. This evening, we went to go see ICE at the gaylord hotel, and I had a small cup of hot chocolate. Dinner was late and at Outback Steakhouse. I had a dinner salad with ranch, plus a sirloin steak, with veggies and a sweet potato with butter. YUM!!!!

Day 29

Almost to 30! I weighed in this morning as today is the official 4 week mark, and have now lost 17.4 lbs in only 4 weeks! I'll take it!

Today was a lightish day. I had to leave work early to take D to the doctor so I didn't have much all day. A banana for breakfast, and then some almonds and turkey midday. Dinner was cube steak, green beans (a legume, I know...), and leftover cauliflower. And I had a small piece of chocolate in the evening.
