A plateau thought
I've posted on here lots about this dang plateau and all my frustration with it. So I won't vent today, I promise. However I do think I've figured out a possible reason for it. I was looking back, and realized that I started BC two month prior to when this plateau really started. And then around the same time as the plateau really beginning (first of November), I switched to skipping the inactive pills and just starting a new pack. So I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it, and will be asking my doc about it next time I go in. One possible theory is that its making me gain weight, but since I'm still staying on calories and exercising, I'm just maintaining. I don't know. But it helps me feel better if so, to have a CAUSE. This has been extremely agitating.
OH and I got another "this is good!" from D about dinner...lol YAY! It BETTA be good because I sliced my thumb messing with that dumb chicken...blah...

Back to work today

An Ice Day
Today, our local school districts closed due to ice, so we got the day off! D and I puttered around, I let him go outside for a bit to skate around. He loved it for a bit but then he took two hard falls and decided he was DONE. So back inside we go! We did get out of the house for a bit. I had to run up to work real quick and then we met Teresa and J at the Galleria for some walking and kid playtime.

Thanks to a coming "maybe" ice storm, I ended up leaving work early to pick up D from school. We headed straight home and have been here ever since. I really haven't been that hungry today so not a lot of snacking.

Yummy porkchops...
I cooked dinner for us this evening, a very simple dinner, but quite yum. I threw some porkchops in the skillet with a touch of olive oil and sprinkled with Tony Chacheres. Mmmmm, especially when you get em a touch almost burned. So much flavor!
I don't think that I posted this on Saturday, but yeah, no weight change still. I was quite bummed and almost cancelled all our plans for the day so I could stay home and wallow in it, but I'm really glad that I did not.

Yeah...lunch was at my grandma's today, and there are very rarely any awesome options other than green beans. An evening out!
Yup! A friend's DH offered to watch D so I could go to an MNO and I had a blast!!! Thanks again for that!
I can't say I made completely awesome choices today, but I didn't do TOO bad. For starters, I ate before going to the Children's Museum, so the donuts there didn't even faze me. And at the MNO, while I didn't stick to what I had planned to order, I didn't do awful (hey, I ignore the cheese fries on the table AND I did not order dessert when everyone else had it), so I consider that a pretty good victory, even though my cals are a tad high today, I think I've earned it.

Oh the temptation
Today was really some crazy temptation at work. For the class hosted up at my office, they catered in...LASAGNA...for their lunch. And its all set up right outside my department. And the smell always collects back in my office. :( I was struggling. I had just eaten lunch so I knew I wasn't hungry, but omg, it was close. I kept teasing myself too, and going out there to ogle it. Even though I knew better!! I finally remembered I had pickles in my cabinet so got those out quickly and started munching. I figured 5-10 calories was much better than 400+!!!!

A slightly better day

Struggling mightily...
I guess I should finally post this. I've been struggling since November mentally. I've been doing good with calories and exercise, don't get me wrong. But with all the ups and downs, especially with vacation, I've lost an official total of 3 lbs since the first of November. I realized that this past Saturday, and I've been way down about it ever since. Its basically a 2.5 month plateau, and its driving me nuts. There are times that I really feel like my body does NOT want to go below 250 lbs because it seems like whenever it gets close, it inches back up a tad, despite what I'm eating and doing.
I've varied calories, I upped my calories even, which helped with 2 of those lbs, I've been doing cardio every single day, since November (minus the few days on the roadtrip), I've added in some different kinds. I just don't understand it. And so its got me really depressed lately, and I know that my motivation is hanging by a very slim thread right now. I'm staying on calories and exercising only because it's become habit now. I'm just afraid of mentally saying screw this, and falling off completely. I keep repeating to myself a quote I heard on the radio awhile back, "Theres no sin in getting weary, the sin is in giving up." I'm holding on to that for all I'm worth until this weight decides to move again.
I'm still trying a few things. This week I started the Biggest Loser Cardio Max workout, to maybe get my metabolism boosted, and while last night and this morning I couldn't even MOVE I was so sore, I will be doing it again in the morning. At someone else's suggestion, I might start doing Theme Weeks (a way lowfat week, a lowcarb week, etc) and see if that can get things moving as well. I don't wanna give up. I can't. Not after coming this far. But I sure could use some prayers, I feel like I'm in the middle of a test period, to see how far I'm willing to take this. And frankly, it sucks.

Inauguration Day 2009 and my sad choice of input
Today, we got to see a black man be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. I'm quite conflicted in how I feel about it. I was excited watching it because he IS the first black president, although I originally had been indecisive on whether or not TO watch it at all. But its tempered for me, because I do not and will not agree with his politics. Its a done deal, no going back now, so I will be watching to see how things go in our country and the kinds of decisions that he makes, and will be praying that he be the leader who makes Godly decisions.
I do want to let D watch it online this evening when we get home. I want him to see, even if he doesn't understand what is going on, what a monumental day it is for him and for his future. I know D is in a unique situation. He's in a very gray area, in that, while he is black, he's in a white family. That alone, I know, is going to give him opportunities that others might not have, and it will open him up to more heartache, as sad as it is to say, as he'll have to find his way in both worlds. But regardless...I want to raise him to be the man that God wants him to be, not the world. To not worry about what other black men may think of him, what white men may think of him, but that its what GOD thinks of him, that truly matters. And if he has that approval, then he's a winner. Although we all know he's already a winner in his momma's eyes. lol
Ok on to I/O. I actually got up this morning and worked out! It helped that D had been up EVERY HOUR since 2am, so by 5:30am I was just done, and said screw it. I banished him to his room while I did. See below for what I did, I was DYIN.
And...I made a sad choice today. At the store, I threw a bag of skittles in the cart at the last minute. I convinced myself the whole way home that I wouldn't touch em. Yeah I ate the bag tonite. :( There are no excuses, I knew going into it that it was gonna happen, but I'm severely disappointed in myself for even getting them in the first place.

I meant to say yesterday...
Yesterday was the day of having exactly 6 months til my goal date for this weight loss! Acckk!! Today was a slightly higher input, which I'm fine with since I've had some lower days. This weight loss might be really slow right now, but I sure don't want to plateau again!! That was awful! And this coming week, I do believe I'm going to ramp up my exercising. We'll see how this goes!
And ohmuhgoodness, lunch took up MOST of my cals today! Yikes!

Interesting day...
Well, I had some disappointment this morning. I was so hoping to be under 250 lbs at weigh-in. But yeah, it didn't happen. I knew with AF being here the last two days, I was bloated. So I'm STILL not there yet. But I'm SO FREAKING CLOSE. It was 251.8 last week, and 251.2 this morning. I'm hoping that with this bloating going away this week, and if I can hold together eating all week, next week is a shoo-in!
In AWESOME NEWS....well, you'll just have to read D and I's Adventure Blog. I know, I'ma tease, but I promise its cool stuff.
I had quite a bit of output today, but it was all spaced out. It really was a fun day, I tried very hard to get past my early disappointment.

I hate figuring out dinner...lol
Lunches are so easy, doing frozen meals or a sandwich. So last night we had a sandwich for dinner too. After being up since 6am, at work all day, I just don't wanna even think about cooking at 5:45 or 6 when we finally get home. Blech...so I have no idea whats for dinner. Shoot, we might just do pbj's tonite, or spaghetti. Have I mentioned how much I hate to cook? I CAN, but its just so timeconsuming, urggh, I don't wanna do it.

Since D just started antibiotics yesterday, we stayed home today, and ended up not leavin the house at all. So no chance of eating out, whew.

D is sick...
:( Poor guy...he has strep. I had NO clue because he wasn't running fever AT ALL. But his breath and nasal discharge got VERY stinky. It was a rotten smell, so I figured it was a sinus infection, hence why I kept him home today to go to the doctor. Yeah, she knew when she saw the white spots in his throat, what it was. Joy. So we'll be home again tomorrow.
This morning, we also ended up helping out Beth by taking them to Carenow for M to get stitches, but check out her blog for that story. I drove B and D to get breakfast, and that began our splurge day. No, it wasn't SUPPOSED to be, it was going to be Wednesday, but I figured, better to have just one bad, than two. So today there will be no calorie counting. But I will go ahead and list what I ate. We hit up Chili's for the splurge, and I just made sure to keep D away from anyone else (Beth's boys had already been exposed to him anyway with the CareNow trip).
B: Sonic breakfast burrito (sausage, egg, and cheese), and a few tater tots

L: Leftover elk meat stroganoff
S: 100 cal golden mini oreo cakesters

Weekends are so hard...
On my water intake, on my food intake. Even though I'm not fond of HAVING to work, I love the routine of it. Weekdays are so much easier on me, except for when nights are bad.
I found myself in a sticky situation for dinner, I did not plan well, and ending up having no choice but to eat out. And with that, I wasn't exactly in a mindset to make good choices. I "guess" it coulda been worse but dang it coulda been SO much better. lol
Input:

L: Lowfat stroganoff (with elk meat, not beef, and I know my grandma uses skim everything), cornbread with a bit of country crock, and some cottage cheese.
D: Sonic grilled cheese and tater tots kids meal...yeah, I know. And some ketchup.
Cals: 1514 calories, not bad, but high in fat, blech.
Output: 20 minute brisk walk at the mall, 30 minutes Wii Tennis this evening

A lazy day
D actually let me sleep in this morning, even though he woke up at 7am. He was really quiet for me, yay! So it was a good peaceful morning. We lazed around for awhile, ate some lunch, then went and both took two hour naps. That so rocked. Unfortunately, I've felt really depressed all day long. I did start a new pack of BC on Thursday evening so maybe thats why. Uggh it sucks. My eating was ok today. I did splurge on a kids meal at CFA, comfort food at its finest.

Its gonna be a good day...
Its BOUND to be...lol I've made it through 3 hellish nights of this beast I call a food addiction. Big props to Jackie last night for talkin me down. lol I was WAY struggling with wanting to eat...and even though I label what I feel AS a food addiction, I forget all the time, that it really IS one, and that I need to treat it as one. She reminded me about what, for instance, smokers do when they want a cig...they get busy doing something else...and yet I was allowing myself to sit there and think on it...basically wallowing in it. So I got up and did 50 minutes of Wii Tennis. I was too tired after that to think. lol So...thanks girl!!! I really needed that.
I used my meal out for 2 weeks tonite. I did decide that our monthly splurges will not count towards that, as I think it will keep me more willing to go the whole 2 weeks, instead of every week.

Another evening of making it through the food addiction. I'm glad I had left room to throw in another snack if really needed, because I did. And I went to bed at 9pm, THAT really helped. I survived last night...barely...
Last night was REALLY ROUGH for me. :( I hate that I will probably always fight this food addiction. If I were to stay completely on track it wouldn't be as much of a problem but the minute that I slack, its tearing me up. But I survived the night without a serious binge. I stuck to my food plan and output. Whew. And its over. So far, this evening is looking to only be a smidge better. I'm definitely going to bed here in a bit to escape it...lol But hey I DID get up this morning and work out...hoping to do the same tomorrow so I guess I do need the sleep too!

And it begins again...
Today I begin the diet again. It was kind of nice to slack over the vacation, but ya know, I definitely felt a lot more run down than usual, and despite getting sick, which probably caused a lot of that too, I could so tell a difference. However, tonite I've also noticed, that with the vacation indulgences, my resistance is very low tonite, and the food addiction beast is raring its head. I'm fighting it so far with one pickle slice every so often and watching Biggest Loser to keep me motivated. But its a battle.
I want to challenge myself to bump up the cardio. I finished off last year getting 30 min of cardio a day. I want to make that 45 minutes, with either 45 min straight, or 30 minutes and then 15. Obviously I could always do more, but I want to make it a minimum of 45 now. I HAVE to get this weight off by my birthday and it will be here before I know it! Tonite, I'll be doing 45 minutes straight of Wii Tennis, which is great cardio for me.
I also decided that for my bday, since its my 30th, that I want to take a short cruise that weekend to celebrate. It will of course be a D-free cruise...lol So thats even more incentive for me to get down to my goal weight. I might not look good in a swimsuit with all this extra skin, but hey I don't care about that so much.

And a new day begins tomorrow
Tomorrow I'm back on the grind of eating right (and beginning the My Frugal Year challenge). Its been a wonderful vacation and I've eatin some crap...but I am more than ready to get back on track. I'm good for breakfast, snacks and lunches for the week, though I do need a grocery run for dinners, and tomorrow during the day I will make my dinner menu for the week. I do know that Friday evening we will be hitting up Subway with a friend (which is allowed on the Frugal Year blog).
Sadly, this morning I was up to 254.8. So I have some serious work to do!!!
I WOULD like it dually noted that I did get in some good output today. Beth came over this evening and we did Fitness Ultimatum on Wii, which kicks serious booty, and then Wii Sports.
Oh and a health update...I went to the doc today to discuss asthma since I get so winded so easily when exercising. She concurred and gave me a script for an inhaler to start trying before workouts. I do also have an upper respiratory infection right now, that began over the vacation with a lot of allergy issues from being around a dog and cat. So I also got an antibiotic. Don't worry...
I'm still here!! Vacation got the best of me and I had a difficult time keeping track of calories. I tried to note everything I ate somewhere, but sometimes we got busy, and by the time I had a bit of computer time at night, I was ready to crash. So I'm backlogged. WAY backlogged. I'd already decided to not stress over it too much and begin anew on January 6th, so I'm going to do that with the input/output log too. It was just too much with handling D and enjoying ourselves. We did have an awesome road trip though!! Check out D and I's Adventure blog for pics of that! It was 2 nights in Oklahoma City and 2 nights in Missouri, and we made it home safe and sound about 10pm this evening.
I will say, I did try to make decent choices on the trip though. However, I know I was pretty high on cals most every day, as we stayed busy, so I'm dreading the next weigh-in. But I'll be hitting it pretty hard come Jan 6th. I've decided to continue the challenge I did last year, and keep with the at least 30 minutes of dedicated cardio everyday. I think it really helped me to stay focused and on track.
I'd also like it noted that even though I sucked down iced tea like it was going out of style, not ONCE did I give in and have a soda to stay awake with all the driving I did (that was a 1015 mile trip all total!!!). YAY!!!! I haven't had soda in about 5 months or so...(except a coke slurpee ONCE). And I tried really hard to keep my water intake up.
So theres my update. Tomorrow is going to be another no log day since I'll be off work. And can I say, I can not WAIT to get back into the work routine for breakfast and lunches. Yeeeshh...

Happy New Year!!!
I'm bringing this to you live from Oklahoma City, where we are visiting my dad and his wife. We are havin a great time, and are sad to be leaving tomorrow, but excited that we will be headed to Missouri to visit one of mybest friends!!
I hope all of you had a wonderful New Years Eve. We certainly did. We hit up an NBA basketball game, OKC Thunder vs the Golden State Warriors. They won!!! And D got an adorable pic with a cheerleader...hehehe...and then we hit up Downtown OKC for the festivities, ball drop, and fireworks. It was freakin cold but we were all bundled up.
Today is my first official day to input cals on this blog, and even though I'm ashamed that the FIRST post is a high cal day (and its NO excuse), I AM on vacation and not at home, so I figured things might be a bit highl...oh well...so lets get to it.
Input: it was a high cal day. breakfast, an english muffin with a bit of butter, eggs with some ham mixed in. Lunch was a yummy meal of turkey, blackeyed peas and rice, cornbread with a bit of butter, and the sinful chess cake that Liz made. Oh I did have some sweet tea, but it was way diluted. Dinner was at a local burger joint. I had a burger and fries and catsup. They were really good! And when we got back, I had another piece of chess cake....uggh...but yummm. And I ended my day at 2126 calories. And yeah I didnt make great choices, although it really could have been worse.
Output: lots of playing outside running around after D. No specific cardio though but we hung out around the house all tired after 2 hours walking downtown last night!!!
